100 Years of Chevy Trucks

For more than a century now, the world has been able to enjoy all that a Chevrolet truck has to offer. We are now celebrating 100 years of Chevy trucks and want to share some interesting bits of history that stick out to us.

1918

This is where it all began. The One-Ton was the first purpose-built Chevrolet truck.

1938

The boldly-designed Chevrolet Half-Ton truck is highly sought-after by collectors and was the first truck designed by Chevrolet’s Art and Color department.

1955

The Chevrolet 3124 Series Cameo Carrier was an early glimpse into modern car design with its “Fleetside” design, car-inspired features, and plush interior. Its design would eventually lead to the El Camino.

1973

Chevrolet paved the way for the modern heavy-duty pickup truck with the C30 One-Ton Dually. It was the first Chevy truck that came from the factory with a Crew Cab option.

1999

While previously used as a trim name, the Silverado made its debut this year as a stand-alone model. It had a design that was simultaneously muscular and aerodynamic.

2019

Chevrolet introduces the latest truck design with the fourth-generation Chevrolet Silverado. It boasts the largest bed with class-leading cargo volume for every size.
