AT&T is partnering with Chevrolet to offer Chevy drivers unlimited 4G LTE data plans in their vehicles for just $20 a month. Chevy owners with AT&T wireless accounts and OnStar 4G LTE systems can immediately visit their local AT&T retail store or go online to their MyAT&T account and change their plan to the unlimited plan.
GM pioneered popularizing the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot by making it available across almost its entire range of vehicles, and now the concept is becoming more popular among other automakers. GM is again leading the way by being the first company to offer unlimited plans.
Chevy says that sales of the OnStar 4G LTE system are increasing every year by 275%, which made it necessary to offer a wider range of choices for every Chevy driver.
In 2016 Chevy halved the costs of most of its data plans, reducing the cost of a 10GB plan from $80 to $40 and so on. Now they’re offering one of the most affordable plans on the market, continuing to lead the industry in this growing market.
Joe Mosele of AT&T said the company is “pleased to make this feature widely available for Chevrolet owners,” saying that “more and more car owners are seeing the benefits of unlimited data on the go.”
